Regarding his future at the retirement press conference in early November, Choo said, "I am physically and mentally exhausted. I am receiving various suggestions, but I will not start unless I am ready for the position. I will take enough rest and think slowly for now." As I have been separated from my family, staying in the U.S. was another option.

"Choo Shin-soo, assistant manager of the team, did not accept the offer from the beginning. Some people said they were not ready yet and wanted to study more," a source from the team said. "It was between late November and early December that I finally accepted the offer." Choo's position was confirmed after discussions after deciding to start anew at the front desk.

Then, why did SSG propose an assistant manager for the owner of the team? Choo Shin-soo is the first assistant manager of the team in the history of the team, although he was a former player with the title of "assistant leader" in the KBO League. Considering his career and career, he can be said to have been assigned an assistant manager for the owner.

In addition, the relationship between Choo Shin-soo and Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin, owner of SSG Landers, played a role in this role. Chung persuaded Choo in person to join SSG in 2021. Since then, the two have had frequent communication.

Chairman Chung Yong-jin's love of baseball is particularly special. He frequently visited his hometown of Incheon SSG Landers Field to cheer for him. As he was promoted to the chairman of the group early this year and focused on management of the company, however, his visits to the baseball stadium declined significantly. Still, interest in baseball is reportedly high. If Choo serves as the assistant manager of the team, he will likely receive faster and more detailed information on situations inside and outside the team and communicate with fans.

Choo is expected to focus on fostering promising players within his team and play with Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin externally. He can also take charge of the front desk and gain experience in team management and management, which will enable him to envision a broader future.

A club official said, "When Choo Shin-soo joined the team in 2021, the club did not just expect him to play a role as a player. We considered various scenarios including the leader," adding, "If you leave the team once after retirement, there is no guarantee that you will receive a better offer or come back. That's why I kept saying, 'Let's be together.'" Regarding the role and authority of Choo Shin-soo's assistant manager, he said, "I will take charge of supporting players and improving athletic conditions, utilizing MLB's human network, fostering players in the first and second division, and supporting important decisions."

"I'm very excited to be able to present a new direction for the development of Korean professional baseball and SSG Landers once again with my first KBO league title as an assistant to the owner of the team," Choo Shin-soo said. "I will continue to learn and research to successfully carry out the roles and challenges given to me. I will also do my best to fulfill my duties by actively expressing opinions on the management of the team's players as well as the role of bridge between the first and second-tier players."
